The Minister of Health, Dr Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong, and the Director General of Pharmaceutical Health, Rajeev Lilas, signed an agreement on December 15 with the aim of making locally produced drugs available in Gabonese health structures. Pharmaceutical Health SA is the first drug manufacturing plant in Gabon inaugurated on November 10 by the President of the Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba.

This agreement, worth 2 billion FCFA, “aims, on the one hand, to make drugs available in health facilities and at a lower cost, on the other hand, the consumption of made in Gabon in accordance with the president’s guidelines. of the Republic, ”we told the Ministry of Health.

Thus, La Santé Pharmaceutical SA will provide Gabonese health structures with antimalarials, anti-inflammatories, antidiabetics and analgesics produced by this structure controlled by Indian capital. It has a production capacity of one million tablets per day (over 360 million tablets per year), 200,000 capsules, 50,000 syrups and 20,000 ointments every 8 hours.

This envelope of 2 billion FCFA is included in the 2021 budget of the Ministry of Health. Note that the budget of this ministry, defended in parliament by Dr Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong and included in the 2021 finance bill, is 129.9 billion FCFA. Down 28 billion compared to the 2020 budget.

Pharmaceutical Health SA is located in the Special Economic Zone (ZES) of Nkok on an area of ​​25,000 m². It is a factory which required an investment of nearly 20 billion FCFA. It produces antimalarials, anti-inflammatories, antidiabetics and analgesics intended for the local and sub-regional market.
